My Babes
By: SJM Andrews-Walters
My babes, four in all, first look, first gaze upon each, my heart
surely grew ten times in size with love so pure, love so clear.
My first, a tiny girl with an intellect huge, it took one look
into those wise infant eyes, and I knew.
My second, a big bouncing boy with a heart so true, a curiousity
for life this one has, a questioning nature without a doubt.
My third, a son so quiet, a gentlemen born brand new,
with a loving gaze.
My fourth, a girl with eyes ancient, with an unbreakable
spirit, Father Creator has treated me well.
These four gifts, he trusts to me.
To raise them the way he would see.
I hope as their mother I have pleased him,
I remain my babes' touchstone though
two are almost grown.
It matters not to me, all four remain my own.
I love you; Katee Elizabeth, Gabriel Joseph
Robert Dakota, & Raven Juliette.
